Current situation of isostatic graphite in China:




As a global manufacturing country and photovoltaic product producer, China has always maintained a huge demand for isostatic graphite. In recent years, with the rapid development of domestic photovoltaic industry, the demand for isostatic graphite in China is increasing year by year. At the same time, due to the weak technical foundation of China's isostatic graphite production enterprises and the technical blockade of foreign enterprises, the production and quality of China's isostatic graphite have not been effectively improved. In 2011, the demand for isostatic graphite in China reached 18000 tons, while the output of isostatic graphite in the same period was only 9500 tons, and the supply gap reached 8500 tons. At present, the problems of insufficient technology reserve and unreasonable product structure are difficult to be solved in a short time.

Graphite mould for non ferrous metallurgy continuous casting




In order to shorten the production process, reduce the cost, improve the quality, reduce the labor intensity and environmental pollution, over the past 20 years, the production of metal materials has gradually developed towards the direction of continuous casting.




Up to now, the continuous production of copper and aluminum has been basically realized. High purity graphite is used in the mold, and the continuous casting output of steel has reached more than 80% (but most of the mold does not use graphite).




Isostatic pressure graphite is mainly used in large copper production line. Since 1985, China has introduced more than 30 production lines from Austria, France, Switzerland, Japan and other countries, while the number of domestic production lines designed and manufactured by ourselves has reached more than 100, all using graphite crystallizers.




According to statistics, China's copper output in 2006 has reached more than 3.6 million tons, most of which are continuous casting. Based on the requirement of 2.5kg graphite per ton of copper, the annual demand of graphite is 486t, and the annual demand of graphite blank is 2700t based on the processing yield of 70%. It is predicted that the annual graphite demand will be about 4000t in the near future.

The development of isostatic pressure graphite (isotropic graphite) in China in the early 1960s, the research of isostatic pressure technology was started in China, and the trial production of carbon, graphite and other powders was carried out. In the mid-1960s, small-scale cold isostatic presses were introduced from home and abroad, and the field of experimental application was further expanded




The manufacturing work is mainly carried out in scientific research institutes and has not formed mass production capacity. In the late 1970s and 1980s, China's carbon production enterprises: Jilin Carbon Factory, Dongxin electric carbon factory, Harbin electric carbon factory and Shanghai Carbon Factory respectively added cold isostatic compressors for carbon material trial production, becoming the first batch of domestic enterprises trying to produce isostatic graphite. Xi'an 43 Institute and Beijing 703 Institute are national defense and military enterprises. They are equipped with cold static compressors and hot static compressors. The graphite materials developed by the Institute are mainly used in aerospace, aviation and other national defense related fields. They have not participated in the development of large-scale high-purity, high-density and high-strength graphite materials. They have only been discussed in theory and have not participated in the market competition.
